THE STORY BEHIND…
Eric, although not Christian, is very interested by religious belief and found the technique of creating folds in his artworks adds several layers of dimension to each of his photographs. Here, as in many images in the series, we have a cross, where according to Christian belief, the horizontal line stands for the material world while the vertical one represents the spiritual one. Take of that what you will… Or you could just see a pretty young Chinese woman looking downwards. Period. As long as you like, none of the spiritual crap matters right?
Facing Each Other is a twelve part, black and white, photographic series of portraits of young asian girls.

Eric Guo (China, 1964) is not your average photographer. Eric Guo is not an average man either. He is a quiet, private man, whose only interest is creating breathtaking works of art. He doesn’t drive a fancy car, and you won’t see him at the next hipster vernissage. Day after day, year after year, you will find him in his studio, perfecting his art. This guy is a force of nature: a poet, an artisan of the image, a fucking genius. Pardon our French.
