Looking at this image you’d guess he was never truly young, but Donald like everyone else started with naive eyes set to the world. Barbara’s inspiration for this series comes from the kitsch and mass-produced prints of the painting ‘The Crying Boy’ by Giovani Bragolin, known to have become rich off of the sad image, Bragolin’s connection brings this work even deeper into the realm of pop-culture.
